New Orleans Jazz Orchestra

BIO

Experience the Heart and Soul of New Orleans with the Grammy Award-Winning New Orleans Jazz Orchestra (NOJO).

As a true ambassador for the rich music and culture of New Orleans, NOJO is a shining star in American Jazz. Founded in 2002, NOJO was established to celebrate and uplift the New Orleans Jazz scene, highlighting its major role in shaping modern American music.

NOJO features some of the finest musicians in New Orleans, and its home base at the New Orleans Jazz Market—a unique, multi-purpose music venue—sets the stage for unforgettable performances. In 2017, the organization underwent a transformative restructuring, introducing a dynamic Board of Directors and the energetic leadership of Artistic Director Adonis Rose. Since then, NOJO has hosted an impressive lineup of special guests, including Sheila E., Eric Benét, and Dee Dee Bridgewater, while paying tribute to music legends such as Aretha Franklin, Natalie Cole, Allen Toussaint, Prince, and John Coltrane. The response to this revitalized direction has been overwhelmingly positive, highlighting NOJO’s new energy and recent recordings.

With six acclaimed albums under its belt, NOJO has graced festivals and concert halls across the United States and around the globe. The Orchestra has toured extensively, from the Cape Town Jazz Festival in South Africa to the vibrant stages of New Zealand and Europe’s most prestigious festivals. In North America, they’ve left audiences in awe with performances at Carnegie Hall and the Montreal Jazz Festival, as well as a memorable set at the Newport Jazz Festival in 2015, captured on the album *New Orleans Jazz Orchestra Live at Newport*.

This 18-member ensemble continues to expand their journey celebrating the spirit of New Orleans Jazz and inspire audiences worldwide!
